Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to the hotel in Moshi for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: After breakfast, transfer to Machame gate at 2,000 meters. A clear track continues up through plantation and natural forest to the ridge between the Weru Weru stream and the Makoa until the trailhead is reached. From here a narrow forest path continues to Machame Huts at 3,000 meters where you will spend the night.
Day 3: To reach upper routes and huts, you will have to cross the valley to reach the Machame Huts and continue up the steep ridge.
After three to four hours, the trail turns west into a gorge and ascends to Shira Hut at 3,800 meters on the Shira Plateau. The night will be spent in tents.
Day 4: Proceed toward Kibo Peak and turn southwards just before reaching the Lava outcrop beyond which the Lava Tower Hut is located. After Crossing several ridges and valleys, you will then arrive at the lip of the great Barranco with great views from the Barranco Hut Camp at an altitude of 3,900 meters.
Day 5: We will then descend into the gorge and then climb its vertical eastern wall. We then walk beneath Kibo’s southern ice field until the path descends into the shallow Karanga Valley crossing Lava Ridge to the Barafu Hut at 4,600 meters.
Day 6: You begin the summit climb in the frigid, post-midnight hours you pass through a boulder-strewn ridge and a gap between the Rebmann and Ratzel Glaciers to arrive at the rim near Stella Point which is about midway between Gilman’s point and Uhuru.
You then proceed to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, after your summit photo, you then descend to Mweka Hut at 3,000 meters where you will spend the night.
Day 7: After breakfast, you’ll hike the final leg which will take up to two hours. Upon reaching Mweka Gate at 1500 meters, you will be awarded a certificate for a successful climb.
You will then proceed to Moshi or Arusha for a hot shower before dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8: Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport or to your next safari destination.
